Another new Russian drone reconnaissance aircraft, Altius-U, made its first flight. According to the Ministry of Defense, he spent 32 minutes in the air, without rising above 800 m. The first experimental model of the device was introduced back in 2015, but now the final version of the drone is being tested.

The latest Russian six-ton ​​reconnaissance drone Altius-U made its first flight, the Russian defense ministry said. According to the agency, the flight took place for 32 minutes at an altitude of up to 800 m in fully automatic mode at one of the test aerodromes. The Russian military noted that all the systems of the complex worked properly.

The press service of the ministry also published a test video. The frames show how the UAV accelerates along the runway at one of the test aerodromes, takes off and gains altitude. In the air, he fulfils various manoeuvres, and then enters the landing. Externally, the device looks like an ordinary aeroplane - a monoplane with two wing engines on the wing.

Altius-U is the final version of a drone capable of performing the entire spectrum of reconnaissance missions using optical, radio-technical and radar means. In addition, it can be in the air for more than a day. The device can be controlled through a satellite channel, which makes the radius of its application almost unlimited. Altius was first introduced as an experimental model at the Army 2015 forum.
Viktor Litovkin, a military expert and retired colonel, in an interview with RT, noted the special importance that it was the Russian military who experienced such an apparatus.
“Because our attack and reconnaissance drones will be able to fly not just a few hours, but for a whole day, retire to distances of up to 5 thousand km and use for this purpose all the necessary technological, reconnaissance, and aircraft instruments, modern avionics to have detailed information about the likely enemy and give the opportunity for the command to decide on the use of various types of weapons, ”Litovkin emphasized.

According to the expert, modern drones are connected in a single circuit with strike systems located on the ground, and with aviation in the sky. He noted that they allow the comprehensive use of weapons, using the information coming from them. At the same time, drones that use weapons that are under their wings can themselves, at the command of the operator, strike at one or another reconnaissance target.
“This indicates that our army receives the most modern weapons, the most modern combat support systems that our probable opponents have. We are in no way inferior to them in combat effectiveness and power of our armed forces, ”Litovkin drew attention.

But the main attention of the media is now focused on another Russian heavy attack drone - the “Hunter”.
He completed his first flight on August 3. He was accompanied by a Su-30SM fighter, it follows from an expanded video of his first flight tests, published by the Ministry of Defense on YouTube. The board number of the tested prototype of the Hunter, judging by the published frames, is 071. The video shows how the drone and the fighter fly parallel to each other at the same speed and altitude.
On a separate flight section, the pilot-controlled Su-30SM flies with the landing gear released, just like a UAV, repeating its roll level to the right or left. Such a parallel flight is carried out to verify flight parameters and the operation of the systems of the tested aircraft with the corresponding parameters of an already developed aircraft.
The first flight of the "Hunter" lasted more than 20 minutes. The Russian military specified that the apparatus under the control of the operator several times flew around the airfield at an altitude of about 600 m and sat down successfully. The flight was carried out at one of the test aerodromes of the defense department.
The “hunter” is made according to the “flying wing” pattern. Thanks to special materials and coatings, it is virtually invisible to radar detection equipment.
The UAV is equipped with equipment for optoelectronic, radio engineering and other types of reconnaissance, as well as an AL-31 series turbojet engine, which is used, in particular, on Su-27 fighters. On the wing of the drone there are no characteristic suspensions for weapons, that is, the means of destruction are inside the fuselage.
According to TASS, a source in the military-industrial complex, the device can reach speeds of up to 1 thousand km / h and will become the prototype of the “sixth-generation fighter.”
The wingspan of the “Hunter” is 19 m, the length of the apparatus is 14 m. Its take-off weight is estimated at about 25 tons, 2.8 of which are weapons.
