Two Tu-160 missile carriers relocated to US borders

Russian Tu-160 bombers were relocated to the Anadyr airfield, located near the US borders. The Russian military department clarified that the flight took place during the planned exercises. Prior to this, the Chinese publication wrote that the recent flight of this aircraft greatly scared NATO members.

Two Russian strategic missile carriers Tu-160 during a scheduled tactical flight exercise flew to the Anadyr airport in Chukotka, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported. It is located near the American borders. The military department clarified that the flight duration was more than eight hours. During this time, Tu-160 crews covered more than 6 thousand km without refuelling and landing.

Flight tactical exercises are led by the commander of long-range aviation, Lieutenant-General Sergey Kobylash. The press service of the Ministry of Defense noted that about ten Tu-160, Tu-95MS, and Il-78 planes were involved in the manoeuvres. The exercises will last until the end of this week.
During this time, the crews will complete the tasks of relocation to operational airfields, as well as flights with refuelling in the air.
Tu-160 is a supersonic strategic bomber with variable wing geometry. At the end of July, the Chinese publication Sohu wrote that during the major annual naval exercises of NATO BALTOPS-2019, held in June in the Baltic Sea, two Russian supersonic strategic bomber-bomber Tu-160 scared the military alliance.
According to the authors of the material, by directing its planes to the site of the alliance’s manoeuvres, Moscow wanted to demonstrate to the bloc members that it would not allow provocations at its borders. “The appearance of the most powerful Russian Tu-160 bombers scared NATO countries,” the article says.
The Russian missile carriers were in international airspace, so the NATO countries could not do anything, although Denmark, Sweden and Finland took off their fighters. But the Russian pilots did not pay attention to this.

Journalists of the Chinese publication called this behaviour of Russia "a kind of a slap in the face" for the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“Tu-160 is the most powerful bombers in the world. And the weight lifted, and flight range, and speed. By the way, in terms of speed, this powerful machine can well compete with fighters. That is, it is a unique bomber for the current time. We are undoubtedly leading here, and the Chinese, of course, is a little envious, they admire the advanced Russian technology that ensures the safety of not only the Russian Federation but, to some extent, same China, because we are covering it militarily, ”said the FAN Leading military expert at the Center for Military-Political Studies at MGIMO, Mikhail Alexandrov.
The next approach of two Tu-160s took place in mid-July over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, the Russian Ministry of Defense said. According to the agency, the flight lasted more than seven hours. At certain sections of the route, the Russian missile carriers were accompanied by Finnish, Danish and Swedish fighters. Upon completion of the flight, the Tu-160 returned to the airfield.
Before that, Tu-160 flew over the neutral waters of the Barents, Norwegian and North Seas in April.
Then the Ministry of Defense said that during the flight they were accompanied by fighters from Norway and Denmark. According to the agency, the Russian Tu-160 completed the scheduled task for more than 13 hours.
“All flights of aeroplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace,” the department emphasized once again.
The Russian bomber-bomber flew over the Arctic before. A video of this flight appeared online in January. Two aircraft flew over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean, the Barents and Kara Seas and the Laptev Sea. The total duration of such a manoeuvre was more than 15 hours, during which the crews refuel in the air. The flight was in normal mode.
“Aviation equipment worked without comment, that is, it once again confirmed its performance in any area, in any climatic conditions,” said Sergei Kobylash
