U.S. strike on Idlib disrupts truce and causes many casualties

The American coalition launched an airstrike in the Syrian province of Idlib and did so without coordination with Russia and Turkey. The day before, government troops in the area, after negotiations with Moscow and Ankara, declared a ceasefire. The US claims the attack was on militants. Experts point out that the operation could be a cover for the evacuation of militants by the US military.

The U.S. military inflicted an unauthorized airstrike on the territory near the villages of Maaret Misrin and Kafer Khaya in the province of Idlib in northwestern Syria near the Turkish border, without warning Russia and Turkey about the operation, they told the Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties.

This happened the day after the Syrian government forces, after negotiations with Moscow and Ankara, announced a ceasefire for the ceasefire to help civilians leave Idlib along the humanitarian corridor. However, a few hours after this, the US Air Force attacked the future paths of humanitarian corridors - this resulted in numerous casualties and destruction.

At the same time, the American side claims that it attacked the positions of militants of the al-Qaeda international terrorist organization (banned in Russia), however, it is not clear why the US Air Force’s airstrike was not carried out earlier, namely after the ceasefire by the government army, reports the NSN.
“By their actions, the United States threatened to continue the ceasefire in the Idlib de-escalation zone,

and in a number of areas they ripped it off. Despite the shelling caused by the American strike, the Syrian forces maintain a moratorium on the conduct of hostilities, ”the Russian Defense Ministry reports to RIA Novosti.
Boris Dolgov, a leading researcher at the Center for Arabian and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, drew attention to the fact that the Pentagon ’s information about the deaths of more than forty Islamists was not confirmed by anything, so the US Air Force could well carry out this attack to cover the evacuation of militant leaders by the Americans themselves, reports FAN .
“Indeed, there were reports of the withdrawal of some militants under the guise of refugees from Idlib, it was just a day before the strike. These were probably groups of Islamic radicals that external forces were trying to preserve. It is possible that some pro-Turkish militants associated with individual political elites in Ankara also left the SAR, ”the analyst explained.
In February of this year, militants of the IS-banned terrorist organization in Russia (the organization is banned in Russia) attacked the positions of the Syrian government army near the village of Al-Sukariah of the Deir Ez-Zor governorate in eastern Syria, on the border with Iraq, the Syrian news agency SANA reported.
At the same time, this area was previously attacked from the air by aircraft of the US-led military coalition. As a result of the raid, two soldiers were wounded and the cannon of the Syrian artillery was destroyed.
Earlier it became known how many civilians died as a result of airstrikes by the anti-terror coalition led by the United States in Syria from August 2014 to December 2018. As noted in the message of the coalition itself,

Last fall, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties on the territory of Syria said that over the entire period of the existence of the American military base of Et-Tanf in Syria, US troops did not conduct a single operation against IS fighters.
As noted, next to this base is the largest refugee camp Rukban, in which there are more than 60 thousand women and children.
In February 2017, two American helicopters landed near the city of Al-Shaddadi and took out several IS leaders from there. The terrorists were redirected to the Sabah Al-Kheir base, 20 km south of the city of Hasak. This base is used by the US military as a training centre for members of illegal armed groups, wrote the Arab media.
In this regard, the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that the actions of the international coalition led by the United States in Syria contribute to the strengthening of the Islamic State. This was also described in detail in a statement by the Syrian Foreign Ministry addressed to the UN Secretary-General Antoni Guterres.
