According to police in Anantnag district of India-administered Kashmir, 10 people, including a policeman and a journalist, were injured in an extremist attack.


Jammu and Kashmir Police have said in a tweet that the extremists launched a grenade attack outside the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag. According to police, the injured have suffered minor injuries.
Police said that the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is on.
The news agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying that the extremists threw a grenade at a patrol outside the heavily guarded DC office of Anantnag at around 11 am.

The police officer said that the grenade exploded on the roadside and people were injured by the pellets coming out of it.
So far no faction or person has claimed responsibility for this attack.

Significantly, about two months ago, Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was neutralized, after which the ban in Jammu and Kashmir still continues.
