An American official has claimed that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the head of the extremist organization ISIS, was killed during a US military operation Saturday night.

US President Donald Trump will issue an official statement on Sunday, the British news agency Reuters reported in a report on Sunday morning, quoting a US official.

The news agency quoted an American journal, Newsweek, as saying the operation took place in Syria's northwestern city of Idlib.
