Sony Revealed the purpose of cartridges for the PlayStation 5

Sony told why they will be needed

 Last week it became known that Sony Interactive Entertainment has patented a cartridge for an unknown PlayStation game console.

 A little later it was suggested that this cartridge would not act as a physical media for games but in fact an external solid-state drive for the new console.

Then came additional images, as well as an official description of the device from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
It is a storage medium that can store various data, such as characters, images, animations, sounds and software. By installing the device in a special hole on the game console, you can read various data recorded on this cartridge.

Thus, it is officially confirmed that this plug-in is indeed intended for the game console. At the moment, Sony's gaming division has focused all its efforts on the PlayStation 5.

The price of the PlayStation 5 is expected to be around 500 euros, the console is scheduled for release at the end of next year.
