He revealed that in 2019, Huawei's smartphone business maintained steady growth, with shipments exceeding 240 million units (second in the world).

Under the circumstance that Google's GMS service is limited, Xu Zhijun said that the construction and development of the HMS ecosystem is a necessary condition for overseas sales of smart terminals. In 2020, we must fully build the HMS ecosystem, support the sale of smartphones overseas, and promote innovation of application partners.

Huawei HMS service is a collection of basic services provided by Huawei. It provides support for smartphones that cannot use Google GMS and provides Google GMS-like functions. 

Currently, it includes Huawei account, in-app messages, message notifications, identity verification, Scanning and other basic services. On December 23, Huawei HMS has started to recruit public betas in China.

At the first Huawei Developer Conference in August this year, in addition to the heavy launch of the Hongmeng OS open source, Huawei first talked about HMS services and announced its opening, calling on global developers to access the HMS ecosystem. At present, there are more than 45,000 applications connected to HMS Core.

Huawei said that it currently has about 1 million HMS registered developers worldwide. In the future, Huawei also plans to provide a $ 1 billion reward fund to encourage developers to build an HMS ecosystem together.
