And today Qualcomm finally fully announced its new brainchild, so now we know everything about it

Let's start by repeating an important detail: Snapdragon 865 does not have a built-in 5G modem. And more precisely, it does not have any integrated cellular modem at all. Snapdragon 865 should work in tandem with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem.

Now to the parameters. The new SoC is produced by the seven-meter process technology. Its configuration includes an eight-core processor with one Cortex A77 core, operating at a frequency of 2.84 GHz, three of the same cores with a frequency of 2.42 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz. The AnandTech resource focuses on the fact that we are talking about Cortex reference cores without any improvements, although Qualcomm on the site calls all the cores Kryo 585.

The new GPU is called Adreno 650 and provides 25% more performance than the graphics core in Snapdragon 855.

SoC Snapdragon 865 supports RAM LPDDR4X (2133 MHz) and even LPDDR5 (2750 MHz)! The configuration also includes a dual Spectra 480 image processor, capable of working with cameras up to 200 megapixels.

The platform is capable of encoding 8K video at 30 fps and decoding 4K video at 120 fps. Supports HDR10 +, HDR10, HL, including the ability to shoot 4K video with HDR.

Productivity in AI tasks has more than doubled to 15 TOPS. At the same time, the Snapdragon 865, like previous Qualcomm platforms, does not have a separate NPU unit - several units are involved in the work at once, including the GPU and ISP. You can also note the DPU module, thanks to which the new Qualcomm platform supports screens with a frame frequency of 144 Hz.
