To date, Page served as CEO and Brin as president. Now Alphabet’s CEO will be Sundar Pichai, who already heads Google.

Bryn and Page noted in an open letter that Alphabet’s work has already been debugged and that the various companies in its composition are working independently, which means it’s time to simplify the company's management structure.

The alphabet was founded by Brin and Page in 2015 and has become a parent to Google. However, Google has remained the “face of the company” in the eyes of the public. This gives additional meaning to the fact that Pichai will lead both companies.

Sundar Pichai has already stated that leadership changes will not affect the Alphabet's daily routine. He noted that he would continue to focus on Google, while at the same time helping to manage Alphabet in terms of long-term prospects and future changes.

Brin and Page also emphasized that they will continue their intensive activities as board members, shareholders, co-founders and they will have regular meetings with Pichai.
