Is the PlayStation5 console lacking exclusive titles to launch?

According to current rumours, the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) will lack large, exclusive games for release. This would be a decisive advantage for the Xbox Series X, which could launch up to 15 other exclusive titles alongside Halo Infinite on the launch day.

Is the PlayStation5 console lacking exclusive titles to launch?

While the two next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are expected to be head-to-head in terms of hardware and performance, the competition will be decided as usual in the game library.

While the Xbox One family has been lagging behind in terms of exclusive titles in recent years, the PS4 and PS4 Pro flourished with over 100 million game consoles sold, winning the race for gamers' favour. However, the tide could turn with the next generation.

PlayStation 5 could only come up with old PS4 hits in new graphics

Russian journalist Anton Logvinov reports that Sony is said to be unable to deliver a single major first-party title to launch PlayStation 5. The reason for this is probably the focus on PS4 games, which also play a major role in the release period of the PS5.

Titles like The Last of Us: Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are the next exclusive titles that will appear before the launch of the new console for PlayStation 4. Of course, you can expect suitable adaptations of the former PS4 highlights with improved graphics and shorter loading times at the start of PlayStation 5, but the necessary bang is missing.

In addition, there is talk that Microsoft should have planned a total of 16 exclusive titles in addition to Halo Infinite, which could be available for the launch of the new Xbox Series X.

It remains to be seen whether Redmond will have a better start than the Japanese at the end of 2020. Furthermore, rumours of this kind should always be viewed with scepticism.

Logvinov was already correct with references to Hellblade 2 and Death Stranding but likes to lean out of the window. The launch lineup of the PS5 and Xbox Series X has not yet been officially announced.
