Many users are reluctant to choose a smartphone-based on SoC MediaTek due to the lack of support for custom firmware. Xiaomi is trying to prove that Redmi Note 8 Pro is a good option for users who prefer custom firmware.

The company released the source code for the core of the smartphone sometime after its launch. After that, the company sent 10 smartphones to recognized developers from the XDA community.

However, in practice, everything turned out to be not so good. The problem is that Redmi Note 8 Pro is very “scorched” when you try to flash a custom recovery, mod, or even MIUI updates through recovery. At the same time, developers and users cannot unlock their smartphones.

The reason is that many developers and regular users do not have an authorized Xiaomi account. Xiaomi is silent about the situation, and users with authorized accounts charge a fee for flashing the stock ROM.

This is the only way for users and developers to return smartphones in good condition.

As a result, developers cannot create custom firmware. The popular MIUI branch - MIUI.EU - refused to support Redmi Note 8 Pro due to problems with "bricking".

Redmi Note 8 Pro users turned to Xiaomi via Twitter to provide a version of SPFlashTool that does not require an authorized Mi account. No comments yet.

All this makes it impossible for developers to develop custom ROMs. Finally, the development process requires an effort, and sometimes this effort can lead to mistakes. However, even the smallest errors in the Redmi Note 8 Pro can damage the smartphone.

The situation is really unpleasant when it comes to users who have no experience in flashing ROMs. The famous MIUI branch - MIUI.EU - refused to support Redmi Note 8 Pro due to brick problems.
