WhatsApp says goodbye to many smartphones based on Android and iOS

The popular messaging platform, which is owned by Facebook, has updated its support page, informing its user that the application will no longer be supported on smartphones that are running Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich), iOS 9 and older versions of these operating systems.

According to Android Central, WhatsApp will stop working on these devices from February 1, 2020. After this date, users will no longer be able to register and use existing accounts to use WhatsApp.

The support page also mentions the following: “Since we are no longer actively developing for these operating systems, some features may stop working at any time.”

It is also worth adding that today, December 31, Windows Phone users have lost the ability to use WhatsApp. If you are still using Windows Phone, Microsoft officially recommends that you switch to Android or iOS.

Thanks, Whatsapp
