EMUI adopted the worst feature of MIUI

Advertising will appear on smartphones Huawei and Honor

Huawei is experiencing a tough time due to trade tensions between China and the United States, as well as US sanctions. At the moment, the company is working on its own alternative to Android, called Harmony OS, as well as on services of Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).

In addition, it became known that Huawei also plans to start demonstrating advertising on its smartphones. This information has been confirmed by various sources and the “Terms of Use” of Huawei Mobile Services that are on the Web.

In this document, Huawei confirmed the creation of the advertising platform Huawei Ads, which can soon be launched for the company's devices lacking Google applications and services.

The leaked documents say that the company will collect and store personal information of users to personalize advertising throughout the year. Data will be stored by data centres located in Hong Kong and Singapore. If the user agrees, Huawei Ads will also collect and process location information (via GPS) to provide “geographically correct” ads.

Recall that advertisements in MIUI are the most criticized feature of this shell for Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones.,

HUAWEI named smartphones that won't get Android 10

In mid-December, HUAWEI made available its proprietary shell EMUI 10, built on the basis of Android 10, immediately for a number of branded smartphones. Following the roadmap of models that are guaranteed to receive an update, the company has published a list of gadgets that are not included in the distribution program of the latest firmware.

HUAWEI named smartphones that won't get Android 10

Thousands of users decided to directly contact the company's support service in order to find out whether their smartphone will receive an update to Android 10. HUAWEI representatives patiently answered almost every letter. As a result, a list of devices was formed that could not wait for either EMUI 10 or Android 10. Among them:

  • Honor play
  • Honor 9
  • Honor 9 Lite
  • Honor 8X Max
  • HUAWEI Y9 2019
  • HUAWEI Nova 3
  • HUAWEI Nova 3i
  • HUAWEI P20 Lite

The company also noted that the firmware output for some devices that were not on the list is under consideration. Presumably, by the end of March, all owners of the company's smartphones, which are intended for the new version of the OS, will necessarily receive the corresponding update.
