After the great success of the Ryzen 3000 series including Zen 2 architecture, it was only a matter of time before AMD also conquered the notebook sector.
At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the chip manufacturer presented eight new laptop processors, whose flagship can now convince in the "3DMark Time Spy" benchmark.

We are talking about the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, which has a TDP of 45 watts with eight computing cores, 16 threads and a turbo clock rate of up to 4.2 GHz.

AMD seems to be keeping its promise of the Intel killer in laptops

Already at the CES 2020, AMD emphasized that the mobile processor manufactured in the 7nm process will even outperform chips like the Intel Core i7-9700K located in the desktop area. These statements should now be confirmed with the values from the 3DMark benchmarks.

As the resourceful Twitter user Apisak found out, the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H should achieve a CPU score of 8350 points. The Intel Core i7-9700K, on the other hand, does worse with 8200 points.

In comparison, Intel's processor offers a TDP of 95 watts at a maximum of 4.9 GHz, but does not use hyperthreading and therefore only serves eight threads with eight computing cores.

Nevertheless, it clearly shows that AMD is poaching even in the notebook area in Intel's performance realm, which the US company only provides in high-performance desktop systems. Asus, Lenovo, Dell and Acer will be among the first manufacturers to use AMD's new Ryzen 4000 family (Zen 2, 7nm) in their laptops.
