The malware uses several vulnerabilities in the security system; it was detected in the code of three applications that have been active since March 2019. These are Camero, FileCrypt and CallCam.

Trend Micro specialists reported the find only this week. Researchers have found that the only purpose of this malware is to "collect user information." Presumably, this is the work of SideWinder, a group of hackers operating since 2012. In recent years, they have mainly been involved in hacking into military organizations.

After installation, the malware exploits the old Android security vulnerabilities. Under these conditions, the oldest smartphones that have not received patches for a long time are the most vulnerable.

At the same time, the program can collect absolutely all data from your smartphone, including saved documents, web browser history, application data, geolocation, and so on.

Google, having received this information, has removed applications from the Google Play Store.
