Mass update for Windows 10 to provide Windows 10X features

Last year,  During the Surface event Microsoft announced Windows 10X  in New York,  but there hasn’t been much talk about this operating system since then. Microsoft confirmed that the upcoming Windows 10X will first launch on single-screen devices, but we have not official information yet how the company plans to test the OS.

Windows 10X, codenamed “Windows Lite,” was originally supposed to work on new dual-screen devices, such as Surface Neo. In April, Microsoft officials said they would first install Windows 10X on single-screen devices, and then transfer the software to dual-screen.

Currently, Microsoft is prioritizing upcoming Windows 10X for new single-screen devices, but Microsoft will soon let you test the OS on existing single-screen devices.

It is also important to note that 10X should not replace the Windows 10 desktop, and both versions will coexist.

Now we have learned from our sources that Microsoft will deliver some of the promised features for 10X earlier than before, and these functions will be implemented primarily in Windows 10, which means that the functions will not be limited to only 10X.

It is possible that Microsoft will first allow a group of beta testers to use the features of Windows 10X in Windows 10.

We already provide information that the company is studying Win32 container support for Windows 10, which could make its debut as a security feature in the desktop operating system. Microsoft will allow testers to run existing Win32 applications “virtually” in an isolated environment (container).

Microsoft officials did not mention these details during build 2020, but many trusted sources said that the company was trying to figure out how they could make 10X features available in Windows 10.

Microsoft also plans to test the trust system for applications with which “signed code and applications” with a “good reputation” can be safely installed on desktop OS

Real user feedback will help Microsoft solve problems with Windows 10X, including Win32 performance and sandbox restrictions.

Microsoft can also test the new features of Windows Update, which are said to be faster in Windows 10.

It is worth noting that plans are always subject to change, but at some point some of the basic functions of Windows 10X should appear on the desktop. We do not know how and when users will be allowed to test the 10X features in Windows 10.
